Its more related to how they can deal with people, manage their own life, solve problems, and use their academic skills in a positive and successful way." Scott Shannon, M.D., Adolescent and Child Psychiatrist
Due to the numerous requests from educators across the country for training in the Discovery Program, the Discovery Institute was established in 1996 to coordinate the training of teachers, counselors, and administrators in the methods and strategies of the Discovery Program. To meet this need, the Discovery Institute developed several training options: 1) a ten-hour instructional videotape package, 2) an on-site/in-district four-day training, and 3) an intense one-week summer session in Colorado. Hopefully, by providing several different training opportunities, educators can teach the Discovery Program and related skills to a wide-reaching audience of adolescents. The impact of this training on a worldwide level is paramount to the vision of the Discovery Institute. |
